Run ResoTweak for the first time

Before you start

Install pending Windows and graphics-driver updates, restart once, and close the game you plan to configure.

Steps

  1. Open Dashboard and wait for the system connection status.
  2. Open Optimizer and select one small group of changes.
  3. Read the description and restart note before applying.
  4. Keep the execution result or export its log when something needs review.

Optimizer · 6 min

Apply an optimization and read its result

Use this for

Reviewed Windows gaming settings, TEMP cleanup, cache troubleshooting, startup load, DNS comparison, and supported power actions.

Result meanings

Applied
The desktop engine changed the item and verified its final state.
Skipped
The item was already correct or was not applicable to this PC.
Need review
The engine could not verify the requested final state. Open the activity log before retrying.

Resolution · 5 min

Save a game display profile

  1. Open Resolution and refresh the installed-game library.
  2. Select a game, aspect ratio, resolution, and refresh rate exposed by Windows.
  3. Enable automatic detection if the profile should apply when the game process starts.
  4. Use Save & Play to capture the desktop mode, apply the game mode, and launch.

If the desktop mode is not restored

Fully close the game and its crash reporter or launcher child process. ResoTweak restores only after the detected game process has exited.

Build and compare an SDR profile

  1. Select the game image closest to the scene you want to tune.
  2. Drag the Before/After divider instead of changing every slider at once.
  3. Adjust brightness, contrast, gamma, and colour temperature in small steps.
  4. Check the capability labels before using Black Equalizer or HDR-related controls.

The preview is an approximation. Validate the profile on the active display and save a neutral profile before testing a stronger look.

Recovery · 3 min

Restore the last captured state

Open Restore last, review the backup time and included settings, then restore only the captured group. A restore result is verified through the same execution flow as an optimization.

Limits

Deleted cache files cannot be recreated. External launcher settings and graphics-driver controls remain outside the Windows backup unless the action explicitly says otherwise.
